It took two years of writing and nine months of production, but when Pollyanna
Bush came out of the studio with her debut album, Dying to Be Born, she knew
it was well worth it. "While in production, I had concerns that the songs were
too different from each other, that they cut across too many genres. But each
song had it's own personality, and insisted on having it's way with me and all
the musicians. I'm glad we stayed true to our instincts, since everyone's saying
they love that my CD is such an eclectic variety of sounds and emotional experiences."
And is it ever! From her first track, with the tale of two lovers being purified
in the crucible of love, to her last, of discovering that all along she has been
the lotus flower of perfection she has sought, Pollyanna's wisdom, passion, and
sophisticated musical expression shines through.
Dying to be Born is a journey in the truest sense of the word. It is a tale of
love and loss, redemption and joy. "Every moment in the album is both intensely
personal and universal," Pollyanna says. "I'm always touched and amazed by the
varying interpretations that I hear of my songs and feel that I have done my job
as an artist when upon hearing the CD, listeners can make it their own personal
journey, not just mine."
